  1. I don’t think this really matters, McPherson and Ashton already share largely the same pool of voters, and they’d be inclined to rank each other second regardless of any official cross endorsement. Anyways, Lewis will win on the first ballot, so ranking is irrelevant.

TLDR: McPherson offered Ashton a deal: both ask their supporters to rank each other second on ranked ballots.

McPherson camp believes they are neck and neck with Lewis, and this could put her over edge.

Ashton rejected it, because Ashton camp was worried it would paint them as close to the establishment and might undermine some of his appeal.

Okay, if anyone’s names besides Lewis were appearing in any form of media outside of NDP circles maybe one would have a shot. But they arent, so they dont, so have fun with that. I wish there were more contenders but there arent.

  4. The sad reality is that the NDP has largely become irrelevant at this time. Other than a small group of people, the leadership race hasn’t attracted much attention, and none of the policy alternatives seem particularly attainable.
