  1. Just two months ago, NATO was in the middle of an existential crisis over President Donald Trump’s insistence that the U.S. take control of Greenland. He threatened tariffs and refused to rule out military action, but eventually backed down.

Then on Sunday, Trump demanded the alliance help him clear the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has blocked since the U.S. and Israel launched their war on the Islamic republic two weeks ago.

“It’s only appropriate that people who are the beneficiaries of the Strait will help to make sure that nothing bad happens there,” Trump told the Financial Times, while also saying he could delay his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. “If there’s no response or if it’s a negative response I think it will be very bad for the future of NATO.”

  2. Sorry, this sucks for the United States that we’ve stumbled into another quagmire of a war and that none of our allies want to bail us out of it, but this is the natural consequence of 14 months of pure stupidity. Relationships with allies are delicate things that are built upon a foundation of mutual trust and respect. Trump’s transactional approach to foreign affairs naturally disinclines other countries offering goodwill aid gestures. If Trump expects help, he’ll need to offer incentives that make it in our allies‘ interests to provide it. Actions, meet consequences.

Didn’t Trump cut all military aid to Ukraine as soon as he took office? They’re not even giving Ukraine the pieces of equipment that are set to be scrapped anymore.

Maybe he’s under the impression he got away with such excuse with his „epstein“-victims, and thus tries it again. This is the result of lacking accountability. Now everyone is a potential victim.

Where is the Congress? Aren’t they supposed to provide oversight and be a check on presidential power?

  6. This is the first time I actually have been embarrassed by something Trump related as an American. Lol

  7. “The beatings will continue until morale improves.”

The US has lost their ally’s trust. He has no ability to understand that one cannot attack their allies economically and then request military, financial, and diplomatic support based on delusional transactional accounting.

Every state actor has their interests. Within an alliance interests are share and allies are willing to compromise.

Trump is like a pet owner, who encourages their pet to come so he can beat it. Guess what? The pets stop coming when called.

There isn’t a single state that allied themself to serve an American serf. Until the US can present some arguments that there are direct benefits for their allies, America is free to do their thing by themselves, while the rest of the world moves on without them.

  8. Nobody owns him anything, and nobody wants to help. He did this to himself.
