      Japan prove itself (so far) to be a loyal lapdog of the US, and people around the world fucking hates america atm. Its less to do with china or japan and mostly to do with falling trust in america. And this is not even a pro china post, god knows I have cuss out the ccp enough to get on the list lol Go to EU sub even on reddit and see how much america is hated at the moment.

      There are various maritime territorial disputes between ASEAN countries and China, but this might be more of a „enemy of my enemy is my friend“ kinda situation.

      The poll was conducted in Oct 2025, so this was before Takaichi.

      Also I think the poll should be somewhat taken with of a grain of salt, as it was an internet poll that asked 3000 people in ASEAN.

      Well, it was Japan that colonized, massacred snd raped people across Southeast Asia…

      When Japan demilitarised, they began gaining their trust.

      Now that Japan wants to go back to their old militaristic ways, Southeast Asians don’t trust them anymore.
