      Saved you a click: Conan says that Dave and Busters down the street has a competing Oscars show, hosted by Kid Rock.

      For someone who is known to be inherently apolitical (not in a bad way, granted), hearing some of his takes in the opening monologue tonight was quite refreshing. At least some of the crowd laughed – not many though.

      There were more than a few pot shots at Trump throughout the night.

      Conan made a pedophile joke earlier when talking about no British actors being nominated and when reached for comment they said „At least we arrest our pedophiles“

      In a later monologue he said the event was being held as the smallest penis in the world arena, and then said „I’d love to see him put his name in front of that…“

      Kimmel also had some pot shots when presenting the documentary awards. First he called out the risks some directors take to film these movies and then said „some people also just walk around the White House crying about shoes“

      For everything that’s happened over the last year, it was a very mild year for political commentary at the Oscars. These people need to get their mojo back.

      conan can get away with it because he’s genuinely funny and everyone knows it. the best political comedy doesn’t lecture, it just points at the absurdity and lets you do the math.
