Somehow the problem with mass surveillance isn’t the stupendous invasion of the population’s privacy, but that someone besides this government might have ownership of that data.
Yeah this makes no sense, we need secure in country ownership, absolutely baffled we have not tried to develop something ourselves, wouldn’t be rocket science to deliver a solution.

The same fucking MOD that’s behind our ’shared‘ Nuclear Deterrent ? That fucking MOD ? The same fucking department that lobbied for a ground role in Iraq and then briefed against Labour when it all went to shit ? That fucking MOD ?

The thing is, that ship sailed a long time ago ago. I know it’s trendy to hate on Palantir, but if we’re genuinely concerned about foreign entities having access to our information then the likes of Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle and Google have *far* more access and control. And in many cases, they actually do hold the data. Microsoft could basically shut down the UK tomorrow if they decided to – or were forced to by the US government. Never mind that fact that basically all of our hardware is black boxes built by US companies.
But trying to change that is going to cost hundreds of billions of pounds, and no government is even going to consider it.
