„Shortly after arriving at the facility, two or three of the protesters broke away from the larger group and began spray painting cars in the parking lot, a guard shack, slashed the tires on a government van, and broke a security camera. Two ICE detention guards came out and told the protesters to stop. A police officer arrived on the scene shortly after and drew his weapon at one of the people allegedly doing vandalism. One of the protesters was standing in the woods with an AR-15 and hit him in the shoulder. The officer would survive.“
This verdict is the death of the right to protest in America. The DOJ didn’t just convict the person who pulled the trigger (Benjamin Song); they convicted seven other people for ‚material support‘ because they brought first aid kits, wore black bloc, and used encrypted apps. By framing standard protest safety gear as ‚terrorist equipment,‘ the Trump admin has effectively criminalized the act of showing up to a protest where someone *might* commit a crime. This is a 50-year prison sentence for being in the wrong place with a tourniquet. The First Amendment doesn’t exist if ‚association‘ is enough to get you a domestic terror charge.
Pam Bondi’s statement after the verdict was the real warning shot. She said this is ‚only the beginning‘ of ’systematically dismantling‘ Antifa. The sub is correctly pointing out that the DOJ is using the Texas case as a proof-of-concept for NSPM-7 (the domestic terror memo). They didn’t need a formal ‚Antifa‘ organization to exist; they just needed a jury to believe that wearing black and liking ‚incendiary zines‘ constitutes a terror cell. This is the roadmap for how they’ll target any group—from climate activists to labor unions—that uses ‚operational security.‘
That entire article reads like a classic [slippery slope fallacy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slippery_slope).
Judging from the account of what actually went down, it sounds like they deserved to be punished. Not saying „terrorism“ is the right label, but clearly they were not peacefully protesting anymore.
Reminder of what being a terrorist means under NSPM-7:
>[Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality.](https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/09/countering-domestic-terrorism-and-organized-political-violence/)
The article stays that ‚it was because they wore black to a protest‘, but then later it says fireworks? How was that a good idea? Anyone know the plain breakdown
this just incentivizes the administration to plant people at protests who will commit vandalism so they can arrest everybody else.
They convicted people for bringing first aid kits and using encrypted apps. You don’t need to build a terrorist organization anymore, you just need to show up prepared.
There aren’t nearly enough police or military to arrest hundreds of thousands of protesters. And if they tried there would be twice as many the next day.
Terrorism charges are as much bullshit as hate crime legislation. We have plenty of statutes (frankly too many) that cover every possible crime that the only reason for these kinds of charges is to be able to increase penalties. I personally think it is just convicting someone of the same crime with a different label.
How do they not understand that antifa is NOT an organization to be dismantled. It’s a belief system!
You know what, wearing a blue suit and a red tie is the uniform of nazism and communism, both treasonous. Prosecute that.
Was this done by jury or by selecting a judge to rule in their favor? Was the verdict against general terrorism or something more expansive that defines a large organized group?
it will likely be used to arrest and silence anyone and everything thats against trump in the united states while the rest of the world could end up like venezuala or iran, or how hes bullied other countries in the world to do what he wants or has to pay tariffs among other things
Remind me again how many white supremacy groups are listed as domestic terrorists. Is the number really zero?
Wearing black constitutes terrorism? Doesn’t that describe all of the ICE agents?
oh and remember whats on march 28th btw. they just got a way to stop that protest. by arresting everyone in the no kings protests all over the country and this is just the start. WAKE UP AMERICA
Maga qualifies as a domestic terrorist group based on J6, and what trump’s admin has done to American citizens via ICE detiainments and murders. Let’s just throw all republicans in that camp too, while we’re at it. There’s not a significant distinction.
Going to be interesting when MAGA is given the same terrorists labeling. Groups like The Heritage Foundation are terrorists under the same principle. I expect Nuremberg 2.0 will open the flood gates to charging these actual criminals.
The first amendment is an American thing. If people wanted it, they shouldn’t have put Republicans in charge.
Shot a guy and committed organized vandalism. Nah this is fine. Jury of their peers decided. Article tries to act like they were only charged because of their clothing. This was an organized attempt to disrupt and they tried to kill a person I’m good with this.
Edit: Thanks for the award glad we got some normies in here.
Cool, can we charge pete kegsbreath for using signal?
There is enough in this particular case that I can see how they manage to get a initial conviction. Don’t think it’ll hold up to multiple appeals. It’s not a good thing but one of these was bound to get through eventually. I’m guessing they probably chose the best of venue that the federal government could find.
So, stop calling it Antifa and call it Anti-Fascism. Let them run their cases against Anti-Fascism and see how popular that is.
They’ve successfully turned “Antifa” into a boogy man for their low IQ base
So they’re going to start going after the counter protest terrorists who are harassing school kids, attacking people, and otherwise trying to start shit too right? Right?
They shot a police officer in the neck. That’s not a first admendmet issue.
well by the administrations own words, they aren’t fascist, so protestors can’t be antifa! case closed!
Let’s get Trump out of office, then start arresting red neck y’all queda militias and throw the same charge at them.
Texas wouldn’t even indict a father who murdered his daughter while under the influence. Texas is so fucked and backwards.
So everyone should refer to themselves as antifa. Go the opposite route and own it. Steal the word and meaning from them. Wave American flags and call yourselves patriots. Antifa patriots because you love this country too much to see it fall to the orange despot.
And that is how you get real underground left wing terror groups instead of „antifa“.
According to the article, most of the people convicted took no part in the shooting, but were considered accomplices because they wore black:
>“Providing your body as camouflage for others to do the enumerated acts is providing support,” Assistant US Attorney Shawn Smith said during closing arguments, as The Intercept reported on Thursday. “It’s impossible to tell who is doing what. That’s the point.”
So protestors dressing in black is sinister, but ICE officers wearing masks and hiding their badges is OK.
Maybe Antifa should change their name to AntiDo
Are we accelerating yet?
