If I recall correctly a lot of the south asian diaspora living in Arab states are slave laborers right? At least that’s how it was when I lived in one of the Arab states in the 2000s.

    2. Indian diaspora from Malaysia here! We’re one of the older Indian diasporas, for example my family has been here for over a hundred years. Both my parents, all of my grandparents, and half of my great grandparents were born and raised in Malaysia

Actually that’s a super small diaspora for such a big population… so Indians didn’t move that much interesting

    4. The craziest part of the canadian number is most of them werent here a decade ago. It was really strange seeing all the companies start to pivot and offer indian options everywhere when i lived for 25 years in this country without that ever being a thing.

    5. In the 2021 census, the UK Indian population was 1.9 million. Now it is believed to be over 2 million.

In the U.S and Canada, it’s 5.1-5.4 million and 1.85 million respectively according to the 2023-24 estimates.

    7. Sri Lanka count seems to be wrong. The majority of Tamils of Sri Lanka are native to Sri Lankan island, not part of ‘Indian Diaspora’.

Stats is a bit old, probably not that old, but Indians abroad is a fast moving number.

      Now, according to wiki:

      USA – 5,16 million

      Canada-1,86 million

      UK- 1,93million
