Nimitz was designated for decommission in may 2026. If they are planning to loose an aircraft carrier due to pearl harbor like event it would be the perfect sacrificial lamb.

So there have been some delays with the new class of *Gerald R. Ford* carriers that is replacing the Nimitz class and in order to make sure the Navy has enough carriers at any given time, each Nimitz class gets decommissioned once a new Ford class ships enters service to replace that specific ship. Now, the specific ship that was entered to replace the USS Nimitz, the USS *John F. Kennedy* has run into delays. The Kennedy was supposed to enter service in June, 2024 which got pushed back to March, 2025 but it was announced that it would be delayed until March, 2027. The exact same time the Navy has now announced that the Nimitz is to be retired.
Even if the Iran war never occurred, I think it’s safe to say that the Navy would have kept the Nimitz around until the ship replacing it was ready for service. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that March, 2027 is the exact same time for both ships new retirement and introduction date.
This cospiracy fails because the OP fails to mention who has the ability to take out a Nimitz class carrier group. The Russians? They won’t do it and their military can’t even bring it home against Ukraine in 4 years. China? Their TEMU quality weapons & defense systems used by Venezula & Iran have turned out to be laughibly bad against the US mikitary.
