      I’m pretty sure we are in at a point here where sympathy for cases like this are at an all time low. Like it’s a temporary work licence. You had no rights to anything else.

      I have a lot of empathy for this family in particular, however, temporary was in the name. This should be no surprise to them.

      Most of us have realized that this program has brought upon a number of issues for working Canadians. Dramatically increasing the supply of labour has resulted in a higher cost of living, overrun of public services, and created less negotiation power for workers to command higher wages from their employers.

      It needs to be completely reformed and unfortunately, that means many will have to go back to their home country.

      Thr main issue described by the article is that Sechelt actually needed TFWs because it’s a small town with a declining working force population. 300 people leaving from this town in 2026 will impact businesses where these ppl work. One business owner from the article says she would have to close her business after TFWs leave.

      While I agree that TFWs should acknowledge they are here on a temporary basis and there is no reason to complain about the “injustice,” something needs to be done to ease the transition for places like Sechelt as these people leave.
