  1. *From The Guardian:*

A group of protesters in [Texas](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/texas) was found guilty of providing support for terrorism and other charges on Friday in a closely watched case in which prosecutors alleged anti-ICE activists were actually part of an antifa cell.

The case was seen as a major test of the first amendment and whether the government could use a broad anti-terrorism statute to prosecute leftwing protesters. It marked the first time the government alleged individuals were [part of an antifa terrorist cell](https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/antifa-cell-members-indicted-prairieland-shooting) in a criminal prosecution.

After the killing of Charlie Kirk last year, Trump administration officials [vowed to go after](https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/15/vance-white-house-promise-to-crack-down-on-radical-left-lunatics-00564766) leftwing groups and [designated antifa](https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/09/designating-antifa-as-a-domestic-terrorist-organization/), short for anti-fascist, as a domestic terrorist group, even though the president did not have the lawful authority to do so. Antifa is also not an organization but instead used to describe a constellation of leftwing beliefs. Some have described antifa as an idea and equated designating it a terror organization akin to designating [Marxism](https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/lawfare-daily–the-trial-of-the-north-texas-antifa-cell) or feminism as a terror group.

  2. “Accused of being part of Antifa”

That’s all anyone can ever say, cause Antifa isn’t a really organization.

  3. The_Navy_Sox on

To do this after January 6th. This is straight up setting up a situation where so many Americans are going to die.

  4. StormOk7544 on

Do they get harsher sentences for supposedly supporting terrorism? I find it believable that most of them only planned a somewhat disruptive protest and not a terrorism incident. Standard charges for the individual crimes they committed are fine but I don’t think adding to their sentences because prosecutors said they planned it and are antifa super soldiers would be fair.

  5. Full-Ad-1757 on

If I am going to be charged with terrorism for peaceful protesting, then my protest is no longer going to be peaceful.

  6. Antifa is just a short form of the term anti-fascism it’s not a terrorist organization despite what the red hats say.

  7. Ordinary_Shoe1828 on

Tbh this is very mild compared to what German antifascists were doing to resist the Nazis.

  8. So much winning… unless you’re the US Constitution. Sad to see America fall.

  9. ultralightdude on

Guilty of being against fascism?  Aren’t we all?!  That’s an odd thing to accuse someone of unless you are a fascist.  …but Antifa doesn’t exist… so I am very confused.

  10. Wearing black clothing, using signal app, turning off your phones tracking, bringing weapons to a protest but leaving them in your car.

These are apparently all points that prosecutors argued to prove that it was a coordinated attack by terrorists. (For Pete’s sake!!)

It seems like the charges are because Song who was alleged to be the shooter, escaped and led them on an 11 day manhunt. Which led to other people being charged with assisting Song during that period

    Fascism requires state terrorism.

So it’s fucking sick to accuse people of „supporting terrorism“ for opposing fascism and protesting against state terrorism.

And it’s just wrong to convict *all* of the protesters because of *one* shooter, and common protest techniques such as wearing similar clothes.

“Shortly after arriving at the facility, two or three of the protesters broke away from the larger group and began spray painting cars in the parking lot, a guard shack, slashed the tires on a government van, and broke a security camera. Two ICE detention guards came out and told the protesters to stop. A police officer arrived on the scene shortly after and drew his weapon at one of the people allegedly doing vandalism. One of the protesters was standing in the woods with an AR-15 and hit him in the shoulder. The officer would survive.”

The title of this article is being a bit facetious.

  13. For those who havent figured it out, this is why Ted Cruz has proposed denaturalizing „terrorists“.

  14. powderedmilf on

Hey and Ted Cruz is introducing legislation to denaturalize and deport terrorists. It’s almost like it’s coordinated and every branch of government from the Fed down is corrupt beyond saving.

This country is a flaming shit pile

  15. Sweetpants88 on

Someone shot at a cop(and hit them in the shoulder) while others were vandalizing governement property.

These people are victims of political influence into their charges, and will serve more time because of it, but they’re not entirely innocent….

Edit: the bullet struck its intended target.

  16. Disgusting. At some point we’re all going to be antifa in the eyes of this fucking dictatorship.

  17. This house of cards will fall.

There’s no excuse for ignorance or apathy folks.

Americans are dying, and the whole of this administration is covering for pedophiles.

  18. we all need to read the article, here is the most important part:

    >A group of demonstrators dressed in dark clothing arrived at the facility just after 10:30pm and had planned to set off fireworks as part of a noise demonstration to show solidarity with the protesters inside. Shortly after arriving at the facility, two or three of the protesters broke away from the larger group and began spray painting cars in the parking lot, a guard shack, slashed the tires on a government van, and broke a security camera. Two ICE detention guards came out and told the protesters to stop. A police officer arrived on the scene shortly after and drew his weapon at one of the people allegedly doing vandalism. One of the protesters was standing in the woods with an AR-15 and hit him in the shoulder. The officer would survive.

    >Some of the defendants did not know each other before the protests, while others met through self-defense classes, the Socialist Rifle Association, and a leftwing book club. The demonstrators brought a cache of weapons, including rifles and bulletproof vests, to Prairieland, but left all but one in a van they used to carpool there.

    >It is undisputed that there was only one shooter, Song, but prosecutors said the event was a coordinated ambush in which the demonstrators used the fireworks to lure guards from the facility and police and then attack them. The defendants strongly disputed that, saying they planned for a peaceful protest that ultimately went awry. They say they brought the firearms – all purchased legally – for self-defense.

Mixed group of idiots, some just stupid as fuck and some actual terrorists. Absolutely wrong in every way, not peaceful, giving real liberal protestors a bad reputation and feeding the rights narratives.

Baiting a cop to show up by vandalizing stuff then shooting that cop with an assault rifle from dark cover of nearby trees, that is terrorism sorry there is no other description. Its not helping immigrants its not helping anyone liberal it is accepting fascists ideology of use of violence to satisfy personal emotions while gaslighting others that it serves some higher purpose.

Trump is losing support, fascist right are losing support, assholes like these fake liberal terrorists only strengthen the far right.

  19. CensoredbytheGOP on

I’m still trying to understand what the actual crime is… association, malingering?

  20. I would suggest reading the article for some context, folks. They were doing slightly more than exercising their 1st amendment rights, even though I don’t think it should’ve been a terrorism charge necessarily

  21. EmilioNoCaprio on

“the government offered a slew of circumstantial evidence aimed at convincing the jury that the defendants were part of an antifa terror cell….. a pamphlet from the Socialist Rifle Association that showed someone putting a swastika into a garbage can.”

    Donald Employs Idiots

  22. seeyou_nextfall on

Headline really buries the lede but i immediately pegged this as the story in Texas where a protestor *shot a cop with an AR-15* for the offense of stopping “protestors” from slashing all their tires. Sucks, but don’t associate yourself with freaks like that. You won’t get away with it.

  23. Even_Charity9078 on

Meanwhile Ted Cruz is pushing motions to denaturalize people accused of „terrorism“

  24. ForeverSquirrelled42 on

    > A group of protesters in Texas was found guilty of providing support for terrorism and other charges on Friday in a closely watched case in which prosecutors alleged anti-ICE activists were actually part of an antifa cell.

An antifa cell? These people are dumb af if they think that antifa is an actual organized group with leadership or doctrine to follow. Let’s also not play….if you’re anti-antifa, you’re pro fascism.

  25. Wait. The one dude SHOT a cop in the shoulder with an AK? The sentence about that mentions that he’s holding a gun and hit the cop in the shoulder, and the article talks about attempted murder, but doesn’t say he got shot. So what’s actually happening?

  26. banana_danza on

Y’all really need to read the article, the antifa angle isn’t even in the ruling or charges. The judge specifically noted that it didn’t matter.

  27. Wooden-Toe6848 on

My question is the phrase „accused of being part of“. No proof needed, just feels.

  28. The erosion of liberties started with the brutality against mere college students protesting over the last few summers. Now anyone challenging the regime is being targeted.

    > and was only charged with corruptly concealing a document or record

You’ve got to be fucking kidding me….

  30. Stunning_Mast2001 on

I remember after 9/11 all the libertarians and leftists said the terrorism statutes would lead to overreach and here we now are, firmly in that territory.
