„BANGKOK, March 12 (Reuters) – Thailand’s Foreign Ministry has demanded an apology from Iran ‌over damage caused to a Thai vessel that was hit by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, which led to a fire and forced the crew to abandon ship.

The ministry said it was seeking clarity from Iran’s ‌ambassador on Thursday on the facts surrounding the incident.“

  2. It’s actually a little amusing that amongst the backdrop of a violent conflict, Thailand just wants a “my bad”

Did Thailand ever ask for an apology after the Iranian Hamas proxy beheaded the Thai workers on Oct 7?

These days gratitude and acknowledgement are very important in diplomacy. Some basic manners like saying „Thank you“, „Sorry“, „Excuse me“ seem superficial but cannot be skipped. If the IRGC reached out and said „Excuse me“ first before hitting the Thailand vessel, things will not be as tense.

Better be careful. Thailand is the only Southeast Asian nation never formally colonized by European powers. Plus Muay Thai.

Seriously though what the fuck is going on.

  6. Off topic, but I’m kinda amazed how similar Thai language is to Indian languages.. The name of the ship ‚Mayuree Naree‘ means ‚Peahen Woman‘ in Hindi, not sure if it means the same in Thai.

  7. America and Israel watching the rest of the world conduct war against Iran with finger wagging and strongly worded letters

I remember a while back Iranian agents were arrested in Bangkok for… I think trying to buy anti-air missiles or something? Or sell them to rebel groups in Myanmar? Anyway they’re dicks.

Countries run by tyrannical, oppressive regimes that mass-execute subjects participating in peaceful acts of opposition are allergic to contrition.

  10. Iran very blatantly said this would happen, I don’t know what Thailand is thinking

This article is short and hilarious:

    Thailand: requests clarity around attack

IRGC Statement: Iranian soldiers shot it

    Mother fucking crystal clear

  12. Just for context, there’re a lot of stories in Thailand that we get permission/confirmation from Iran government that they won’t attack our vessel since we are not their enemy (/shrug).

I don’t think the world is going to keep tolerating Iran’s temper tantrum much longer. I’m surprised the Gulf states haven’t leveled more of Iran yet.

I don’t think Iran cares about Thailand or its ships at this point of time.
