> The governments of Japan and South Korea signed a memorandum of cooperation in September 2024 to assist each other when evacuating their citizens during emergencies such as wars. Japan made similar agreements with Australia and Canada, but South Korea, with which there is a history of cooperation, was the first of the three countries Tokyo reached an agreement. This marks the first time foreign nationals in this cooperative framework have been evacuated in the latest conflict.
