  1. >Whether humans are alone in the universe has been one of mankind’s enduring mysteries, while the possible existence of UFOs, unidentified flying objects now referred to as unexplained anomalous phenomena (UAP), has sparked numerous conspiracy theories and countless movies of varying quality.

Even aliens are having reception issues these days. You’d think we’d have this figured out by now.

I wonder if we could try bouncing a signal back to ourselves off something a few light-years away to test this? Would be a long experiment…

So these aliens are advanced enought to be sending messages across lightyears but not advanced enough to account for space rain?

Precisely BECAUSE this signal degrades, it makes it fairly safe to rule out as a means of interstellar non-human contact (because a sufficiently advanced species would have opted for a better method).

    Here’s a thought experiment:

Imagine that humans were not born with eyes, nor the ability to detect light. Would we discover that the visual spectrum of light exists? (We would find its other properties, but imagining that creatures can use it to view their surroundings in high detail would seem like science fiction.)

Now imagine what other mediums might exist that we haven’t sensed because we don’t have the biological/technological tools to spot them yet.

If „aliens“ are sharing knowledge over some broadcast method, that’s where it would be awaiting our discovery.
