      Funny because the US Secretary of Lying said 45 minutes ago that the US was escorting tankers to avoid this. 

      Suddenly telling the world „we made this area super safe!“ And then deleting that post lets us know whats really going on.

      The US wanted to soft power „propaganda protect“ the straight of Hormuz while providing no actual military assets to ensure that. Claiming theyve escorted ships safely through the straight when they have not.

      Meanwhile, US intelligence agents are pulling the alarm that **the straight is not safe and will be full of mines**.

      If you’re too stupid to see it, they want an international ship to be targeted in the straight so that the Trump admin can then charge „protection fees“ like a mobster.

      Iran has been planning for the eventuality of closing the Strait for 50 years, but Trump just found out it existed less than 14 days ago, so it’s impossible to say who will come out ahead

      I fully expect the very smart Wall Street Guys to write me a 5 million dollar check for this expertise

      >The mining is not extensive yet, with a few dozen having been laid in recent days, the sources said. But Iran still retains upward of 80% to 90% of its small boats and mine layers, one of the sources said, so its forces could feasibly lay hundreds of mines in the waterway.

      >Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which now effectively controls the strait along with Iran’s traditional navy, has the capability to deploy a “gauntlet” of dispersed mine-laying craft, explosive-laden boats and shore-based missile batteries, CNN has reported.

      >The IRGC previously warned that any ship passing through the strait would be attacked, and the channel has effectively been closed since the start of the war. The state of the strait has been described to CNN as a “death valley” given the risks involved in transiting.

      >US officials said today that the US Navy had not escorted any vessels through the strait, though President Donald Trump said Monday that his administration was looking at options to do so.

      Given they reported this I’m going to say that this is likely happening for real. Wow!

      But I will await confirmation from additional sources.

      Kind of an economic suicide bomb, given that a mine cannot differentiate between a Chinese tanker or an Iraqi tanker, so this just completely closes the strait for allies and enemies alike

      Don’t really blame them for doing it, though. In the absence of nuclear weapons this is the strongest deterrent Iran has

      This is the single thing literally every last administration, defense analyst and academic who studies this sort of stuff for the last 45 friggen years has been worried about and all it took was one slovenly asshole to actually make it happen.

      Interesting if true. Iran ideally would keep the strait open, because they need to maintain cashflow by selling oil. I would expect mining the strait is something of a last resort.
