Unless you consider the money angle (which, TBH is the real reason), I can’t wrap my hear around the GOP view that all our allies suck except Israel.

– South Korea is ready to defend itself and does so without going to war with their neighbors on a regular basis or committing genocides.
– Taiwan is in a very uncomfortable position and is trying to both survive without enraging China or losing our support.
– Ukraine is holding off a much larger, nuclear armed neighbor and all they ask is for weapons…no US troops.  They also tried desperately to avoid war without just surrendering or giving up land.
– Nato members have under-invested in defense since the Cold War, but they have also tried every other option to keep the peace and are now pursuing investment after Russia made it clear that they’re going to be belligerent.
– None of the above allies want to expand their borders.
