      Vote against the troops. Vote against defense contractors. It’s not like their implementing the will of the people. They’re not making anyone safer.  

      It’s not defense anymore, they’ve renamed it war. Nothing wrong with voting against war.

      The all legacy media is now about “gotcha” journalism. All sides are trying to keep raising the temperature so eyeballs are watching their networks.

      This is why we need independent, sober and serious reporting. News should be here to inform, not entertain. And just like politics, it should be boring to the vast majority of people. The devolution into a form of sporting event is reflective of the state of affairs in our country.

      Actually watch the clip. Tapper isn’t advocating for the position, he’s providing the Senator a chance to rebut a criticism we all know the right is going to use.

      I’ve been watching CNN for a good chunk of time since the war started, and their overall tone is certainly more critical than supportive of the war, and Tapper is definitely following along those lines.

      As a former „troop“, „support the troops“ is top-tier propaganda. They got a whole generation to be pro-war with that bullshit. You support the troops by not putting them there in the first place. They should starve the military financially until they stop this shit.

      The media justify the use for bombs

      You don’t need to completely control everything to make these things happen. You need just enough support in each branch to create just enough dissent to perpetuate this lie that we need to everybody

      While the decision had to be mostly geopolitical (reports from long time Mid East diplomats say Bibi told Donald they knew when/where Khameni was having a meeting, it was the weakest Tehran’s missile force would be, etc.. ), .. part was domestic with rightwing evangelicals getting their payola.

      The other part of the domestic calculus is indeed a “mission accomplished” GW-style before the midterms (maybe a golf cart instead of jet), how can voters now diss a wartime prez (?) in favor of those evil commie-Dems straight out of ‘80s action movie casting, etc… [to add there’s some other wild cards too that could play into the admins favor as losing the mid term game, the WH got another deck of cards].

      Of course there’s the HW example. Having led a successful Desert Storm effort in 1991, .. voters said *it’s the economy, stupid* and voted in Bill Clinton who’s only battle was getting to the front of the McDonald’s line (note to youngsters: Bill wasn’t always a vegan). If oil prices stay up, the GOP risks stagflation and many Americans being angered as their dreams of a big 4WD turn into tearily settling for a Fiat-sized Chevy Geo-Sprint Part Deux.

      Anyone mad at Tapper needs to watch the actual clip. He makes it clear that he’s just pointing out how Republicans are going to try and frame his vote and is not actually stating his own opinions. He’s doing Murphy a favor and helping him get ahead of the BS narrative that his opponents are going to try and use.

      Tapper is a Trumper. Never said anything about trump slurring his words. Never mentioned trump falling asleep in the middle of his own meetings. Never brings up the corruption and billions he has taken from tax payer in 1 year! This guy would suck on trump’s leaky asshole if given the chance.

      I remember when this was the narrative everywhere in 2003 when Bush/Cheney invaded Iraq again.

      When the president of my university sent out an email addressing the ongoing protests on campus, he said something like „protesters vs those who support the troops.“

      This is an old tactic that unfortunately still works.

      tapper is not saying this he is saying how republican attack will come and how will you react to them. Tapper is not saying this as a personal belief he is giving Chris a change to attack the argument that he is „against the troops“ that is how I see it.

      Senator Murphy is correct, Americans don’t want this war. The country gained nothing from sending all those troops to Iraq years ago. The Trump regime will have no better luck with this middle east adventure. Jake Tapper looks the part, but has proven over and over again to be just an empty vessel.
