    1. If it was a war crime, criminals must be prosecuted… so there’s no more to discuss.

    2. Great cover story. They’re running the Russia-Israel playbook.

Anything is an enemy base if you believe hard enough.

Well as long as nobody is at fault then I guess everything is fine here

    4. UAreTheHippopotamus on

So, in most very freaking low stakes Software Development jobs if you screw up because of the AI tools you were using *it is still your fault*. If you commit war crimes using AI tools *you still committed war crimes.*

    5. This is the playbook. Hide behind the shield of AI so you don’t have to answer for war crimes.

    6. ‚You’re totally right. I made a terrible mistake and will be extra careful from now on. Do you want me to bomb another school?‘

    7. theytoldmeineedaname on

Wow it’s the fucking memes come to life: „You’re absolutely right! That was in fact a school and not an appropriate operational target.“

Now this brings up a question that has been asked way before this and has been ignored over and over and over again. Where does the accountability lie?

    9. Is any real publication reporting this? I’m having trouble believing this anonymous MA site seemingly heavily focused on local news broke this story.

    10. Yeah I’m just now realizing that the US government can now kill whoever they want and just say “whoopsies, AI error!”

AI can never be integrated into weapons systems. Congress needs to get off its geriatric ass and ban this.

    11. I seem to recall Anthropic **specifically** refusing to allow their products to be involved in life-or-death decisions and getting in a lot of trouble from the US government for not allowing them to use it that way. It’s almost like Trump and Hesgeth should have opened their ears instead of their mouths…

Cool plausible deniability because you wanted to use fuckass tools for war.

    13. Nice excuse, but somebody had to approve it and take responsibility. Ai is just a tool but if you play war games and commit war crimes you need to stand up to responsibility.

Many innocent souls died, this can’t be dismissed with bullshit like that. I want to see generals or politicians jailed for life

    14. This is the whole reason bad actors are pushing for ai in this arena

You can’t jail an algorithm. They are removing accountability and responsibility. Well the ai had a high confidence level and that’s our standard so it was cleared to act

blindly upvote and angrily respond, not noting that the article is complete bullshit from a bullshit website. classic reddit

      Wtf is thisweekinworchester

Oscams razor says they just targeted that shit directly and want to blame ai for their incompetence. Playing off the general hate of ai works as well.

I feel like this entire war is just going to be war crimes and propaganda

    17. 8647ThisAdmin on

So to be clear, there’s absolutely no evidence that AI was responsible for this after reading the article.

Not sure where this theory even started

    18. „Likely“ and „theory“ and unnamed „multiple sources“ do not make this claim legitimate.

*I would not be surprised* if the claim is true, but this is not enough for us to conclude it is true.

    19. THIS EXCUSE IS EXACLTY WHAT THOSE IN POWER (govt and corps) were WAITING FOR!

A non-entity they can blame every mistake on and get away with it.

      >This Week in Worcester spoke with multiple sources who confirmed that the military’s deployment of AI led to the missile strike

*This Week in Worcester* has a Pentagon bureau!? Who says small town news is dead?

    21. TiramisuMaster on

10+ hospitals bombed, oil refinery, water desalination plant, all bombed. Accidents also?

    22. just_a_fungi on

“This Week in Worcester spoke with multiple sources who confirmed that the military’s deployment of AI led to the missile strike against the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ school in Minab, a city in southern Iran, on Saturday. Ali Bahreini, Iran’s ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva, said the strike killed 150 students”

sorry, but who in their right mind thinks this outlet spoke to the DoJ and DoD?

do you really think that if this were a real story, the NYT/WaPo/any other outlet that has a significant number of sources within the government wouldn’t have reported it out by now?

all of this is complete nonsense until it’s substantiated somewhere legitimate.

    23. RebelStrategist on

So what they are saying is, there is no human to blame and make accountable. They will hide behind this AI bullshit.
