      Justified and understandable. We no longer live in a stable Pax Americana. European nations need to prepare for the possibility of direct conflict.

      Considering everything that’s going on in the world right now, I can understand why they made this choice.

      I mean the evidence is pretty irrefutable at this point that possession of nuclear weapons is the only way to prevent invasion or attack by Russia or America.

      You think Trump would be running his fat mouth about attacking Cuba next if they had half a dozen nukes?

      The headline would have you believe there’s an open market in nuclear weapons. I post just to call that out as the stupid thing that it is. It’s so dumb, I have zero interest in reading the article. Mission *not* accomplished.

      I honestly hope we can elect a competent president next that then helps arm American allies in case the next guy is another fascist.

      I knew we’d see long term consequences when the Budapest memorandum was violated. Despite the economic repercussions (as well as Russia’s embarrassing performance thus far), nothing has really changed for Ukraine and they still face a hostile neighbor with a leader willing to turn its own citizens into fodder.

      No one is going to be giving up their nukes now.

      I don’t like the proliferation of nukes, but it’s becoming more and more clear they are a defensive weapon in this new multipolar world.

      It’d be like coming up with the very first shield and then expecting everyone else to stay exposed.

      If you want to protect your country from Russia and/or the United States, get a nuke, it’s the only way to guarantee your nation’s independence in today’s world, sadly.

      Well if there is any lesson other countries will take from the war in Iran, it is “holy shit we need to have nukes ASAP”
