I mean, parts of ancient Macedon where Alexander the Great is from was located within modern North Macedonia

Edit: not sure where downvotes are coming from, not saying OP is wrong just pointing out the inherent gray area thats common with history

Could have included the extent of pre WW2 Yugoslav subdivisions centered on Macedonia.

    OP is for sure Greek.

Edit: I’m not saying OP is *wrong*. I’m saying there’s only one country that made North Macedonia change its own name to join NATO.

  4. I’m really gonna laugh if North Macedonia ever gets admitted to the EU and their first move is to change their name back to Macedonia just to fuck with the Greeks.

*Alexander the Great has entered the chat.*

This is some low effort shitposting.
Predecessors could by the Bulgarian empires if you say they are bulgarians off branded by Tito. Or general south slavs than Yugoslavia is the predecessor for NM.

  7. Greek nationalist hands typed this post. If OP or anyone is genuinely offended by the name of a country they need to take a good and long reevaluation of their values.

On the off chance it’s a Bulgarian, you are foolish as well. Language or even shared culture isn’t what defines a country and if making your state larger on a map helps you sleep better at night, you are transparently and pathetically insecure.

  8. The modern Slav Macedonian Identity is a continuation of the Dragovitan Identity (7th-14th centuries AD), alike how the Ukrainian Identity derives from the Malorussian and Ruthenian Identity. In this manner, I feel this map should include the area of the [Bishopric of Dragouvitia](https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%95%CF%80%CE%B9%CF%83%CE%BA%CE%BF%CF%80%CE%AE_%CE%94%CF%81%CE%BF%CF%85%CE%B3%CE%BF%CF%85%CE%B2%CE%B9%CF%84%CE%B5%CE%AF%CE%B1%CF%82) (in North-West Central Macedonia), and also of the brief realm they had in the 13th century AD, which included areas of modern Greece, such as Beroea.

In commenting here because I want to check back on the snarky contrarian Redditors thinking Alexander the Great wasn’t Greek

Fuck I love seeing Psudo-intellectual Redditors bullied

Genuine question: What’s wrong with being just another South Slavic country by identity? Why do Macedonians feel the need to cater to an ancient Hellenistic empire while Bulgarians don’t feel the need to call their country Thracia or Croatians Illiria?

  11. Holy fucking shit!!! Everywhere except that tiny blob in the middle?!? Christ they must have been Supermen. Fair play to that tiny bit of Yugoslavia holding them off too
