Chantal Hebert had discussed on The Mansbridge Podcast that a by-election call this weekend would signal that the Liberals aren’t going to go to an early election, while no by-election call might have signalled an early election.
Looks like the former is the case.
EDIT: Also interesting to note that Wilkinson still hasn’t resigned, as has been rumoured. Would have expected them to wait for that before calling the by-elections. Wonder if he’s staying after all?

My prediction if Liberals win all 3 ridings, I think there will be some big jumpers from CPC to Liberal.
Now if Liberals don’t win all 3 then things get more interesting or if the jumpers would want to give Liberals a majority via switching parties

Are there any general election tea leaves to read here?

I know 2 of the people running for Lib personally and they’re amazing. Party aside, they’re genuinely great people.

My guess is they are pretty confident they get a majority through the byelections if they are letting them go through. I doubt we see an early election call before these byelections take place. We’ll have to see if the polls hold up until then. They might not have the same opportunity to call an election in a month or two.

With the Liberals polling so well, and Carney’s approval being as high as it is, I wouldn’t be surprised if they took Terrebonne. The other two are safe. After PP’s little trip overseas, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more floor crossers
