I reside in a state bordering the red and green zones. Our diet consists of rice at lunch and wheat roti for dinner.

Tbf I live in Pakistan and while it is labeled as a bread country (roti, naan etc), we also eat a LOT of rice. Like out of 7 days a week, I’ll eat rice in *at least* 2 of them.

Edit: People are misunderstanding. 2 days a week is usually the minimum. I’m also not comparing it to the red region. Moreover, my point was while it is labeled as a bread region, rice is almost as significant, even if wheat slightly overshines it.

Well I’m from Himachal, and people eat a lot of rice here, more than bread ig

  4. Is there a geographic reason for the dividing line or just cultural differences? I’m surprised at the divide in India for example, since I’d assumed the whole country would have a climate well-suited to growing rice.

  5. What is the source?

As an Iranian, I highly doubt the data, especially at least along the caspian sea rice dominates.

So the author doesn’t even know Northeast China produces the best rice in the country?

  7. Bullshit map, agriculture doesnt follow such clean division.. its geography and climate based

  8. I’m from one of the red part and we do in fact eat bread and rice. More the bread than rice tho.

I am sure the coastal Chinese areas and areas next to Korea eat rice

Southern Arabia (Oman and southern Yemen) consume more rice than break I think . The traditional foods in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are also rice based

Saudi’s national dish is literally kabsa. A rice dish

Edit: While Arabic bread is important, most of our native dishes involves rice

Source? Seems too clean of a divide and where would they get the statistics from.

It’s probably „feelings“ from OP or made up bullshit.
