We really are living in 2006.
War in the Middle East.
Britney Spears DUI.
Calls for jets out of Billy Bishop.
I find it funny that London City Airport, a facility modelled after YTZ as it was in the 1970s was able to make this transition decades ago and Toronto just can’t – because Toronto.
I am becoming more open-minded about the expansion of Billy Bishop airport. I have learned from commenters in another post that the airplane noise issue, which was the crux of past opposition, is not as cut and dry as it once seemed. Plus, if it’s true that those living closer to the airport are more open to it’s expansion than before, then it would make sense to not dismiss any further discussion on the matter.
I luv this airport and would luv to be able to use it more, by it having more destinations I can fly to. My opinion on expansion has gone from „no“ to “ tell me more“.
The practical argument against YTZ expansion has always been that the groundside facilities (taxi rank, transit stop, passenger pickup/dropoff, etc) at the foot of Bathurst St can’t really handle much if any additional traffic. This has been mitigated somewhat by the construction of the pedestrian tunnel (the ferry service alone certainly wouldn’t do) but remains a concern that, er, flies under the radar.
