You can’t fold on „you’re not allowed to use our military bases without our permission“ without immediately losing all your sovereignty. Furthermore, Spain has no reason to fold, Trump cannot sanction them without sanctioning the entire EU. Spain has all the cards.
No means no. It’s something a corrupt pedophile politician at the other side of the pond has never learnt.
Sadly the fact that other EU countries are standing by him is just sad. And Germany needs to deal with its guilt without greenlighting every Israeli action. Merz is really on the wrong side of history here. Vigilante justice by the US isn’t right or legal. Negotiationing in bad faith and then bombing because of a fake threat is still wrong.
Merz agreeing with Trump in the White House as he attacked Sánchez sums up current European solidarity. While I think Macron is the most impressive European leader Sánchez is probably the one I most admire.
Back in 2003; France also said no to the US aggression in the middle east. It was criticized but we held our ground and came up emboldened by this. I wish we would do the same now and support our spanish neighbours.
