  1. Mark Carney’s visit to Australia has been significantly impacted by the escalating conflict in the Middle East, particularly following the US-Israeli strike that killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. During discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Carney noted that while Canada might consider involvement in conflicts related to Iran, this remains a hypothetical scenario. He emphasized Canada’s determination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, highlighting that this stance reflects broader concerns over regional and global stability. Furthermore, Carney called on middle powers like Canada and Australia to collaborate in redefining international governance, especially as tensions with Iran present significant challenges to global security.

Well, that pretty interesting, one would say he is looking to close the gap with US this way when US need political support.

Sure he can. Canada has underinvested in its military for so long they have nothing to offer. The F-18s are so old, the wings will probably tear off if you hang bombs on them.
