      Trump: kneel before me!

      Iran kneels before Xi.

      Xi: …

Xi continues to purge CCP top military officers.

      Taiwan: wtf

Why they not letting the French ones through? I thought France was siding with China on this one.

    3. Now that’s soft power. Making fundamentalist religious zealots bow down to some atheistic heathens no less. Bravo, China.

    4. Sounds like Iran is baiting Chinese vessels to sail through. If Chinese vessels get hit, it may drag China to fight on the side of Iran.

Every ship just fly the Chinese flag and see get what the Iranians will do.

So Iran is gonna sink ships belonging to their BRICS partners?? They’re gonna sink Russian vessels, after being so cozy with them for years?

It seems like going after Venezuela first was at least strategic by the orange one. So we could do without some Middle East oil for a time.

I wonder what would happen if other nations‘ tankers try to travel along with China’s ships? Would Iran take the risk?

If people think China is happy about this, you don’t understand globalization and the interconnected global economy which benefits everyone, especially China.

China benefits greatly from the free movement of the supply of oil and other commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Non-Chinese ships bring stuff to China and trade with China too. Non-Chinese ships move goods between other states who then trade with China.

Moreover, it would be very risky for Chinese ships to sail through there even with the paper-thin promise of safe passage by Iran. Do you trust the IRGC not to lay indiscriminate naval mines or accidentally send a drone or ASM at you? Do you trust the Houthi rebels to honor Iran’s promise and for them to properly identify you every time? Does your insurer? Chinese shipping companies are in the same bind.

All this instability in one of the most economically and geopolitically important parts of the world is bad for business, and China is very unhappy at Iran.

    11. I mean China is basically the Switzerland of Asia, peaceful and never interfering with foreign conflicts…

    12. This is going to piss the US off. I’m pretty sure the only reason US invaded was to deny the Chinese passage
