*From Bloomberg News reporter Charlie Duxbury:*
All Swedish adults should hold a week’s worth of cash at home so they can buy food, medicine and other essentials in case of a war or other crisis, Sweden’s central bank said.
In addition to the 1,000 kronor ($110) per adult, Swedes should also keep bank cards from multiple lenders and use the local online payment service Swish, the Riksbank said on Wednesday in its first guidance on payments aimed directly at citizens.
“The general public is an important part of Sweden’s total defense and central to strengthening national preparedness,” the central bank said. “Having access to different payment methods improves the public’s ability to make payments in the event of temporary disruptions, crises and, in the worst case, war.”
Sensible advice, and they should keep multiple strong currencies
I think it’s more like the recommendation changed. Used to be 60€ per person, now 100€ per person. If I remember correctly.
Sweden also is trying to remove the use of cash. Your accounts can be frozen if you withdraw cash or try to enter cash into your accounts. Banks do not accept cash.
Every aspect of our society punishes the use of cash.
Stores prefer not deal with cash. ATMs are dissapearing.
And they keep repeating this message as if we don’t get that cash is good. But you ( swedish state ) wont let us use it without endlessly fucking with us. In addition to making it difficult to do anything by cash.
We got this advice from the Dutch gov a while back, along with storing food, blankets candles etc. for 3-5 days. Id assume most governments are doing the same?
There’s an active warzone not very far away and Trumps doing his best to make the world more dangerous.
This is not new to be clear, I’m pretty sure it’s been recommended for years
Easier said than done… So hard to get hold of euros, banks don’t even make it possible to make withdrawals in cash, only on ATMs but heavily limited. Another possibility is in Forex, as foreign currency, but also heavily limited. We live in a cashless society for the good or the bad.
And you get criminalised when holding to much cash because of their crackdown on the blackmoney interpersonal transfers.
Haha sweden shops do not even accept cash most of the time.
What cash?
