most of them are Rappen! you could use it to buy stuff at vending machines for criminally inflated prices, you could dump them in a machine at the bank and get the total added to your account but you’ll have to remove the non-swiss currencies first.

Some „vending“/automatic machines at Coop accept coins. The last time I emptied my stock of coins, I went shopping at Coop at a quiet time and spent five minutes emptying my coins into the machine; there was over 60CHF worth! I paid the difference with my card.

Coins older than 1967/1969 contain silver.
I would sort them out first, they are worth their weight in silver content (83% silver)

I have never understood why people put aside all these small coins instead of regularly using them to pay stuff they buy. 🤔

Traditionally, pay for your parking. But it’s super important—I cannot emphasize this enough—that you do not presort your change and that you store some of it in your wallet and some of it in your pockets and that you give at least one or two coins to a child to hold. It’s not required that you drop any, but it’s always more exciting if you do.
