Guten Tag. Seit zwei Jahren habe ich Probleme mit meinen Nachbarn. Manche Nachbarn werfen den Müll aus dem Fenster, andere stellen den Müll neben die Tonne und wieder andere holen ihre Möbel heraus und stellen sie auch direkt neben die Tonne. Ich habe mehrmals alleine aufgeräumt und eine Firma aus eigener Tasche dafür bezahlt, die Müllsäcke abzuholen, weil Ratten begonnen haben, im Müll auf dem Boden nach Nahrung zu suchen. Ich habe mich an die zuständigen Behörden in meiner Gegend gewandt und sie sagten mir, ich solle einen Umzug in Betracht ziehen, andernfalls könnten sie nichts unternehmen, da es sich um Privatbesitz handele. Ich erwähne, dass die Firma, die mir die Wohnung für etwa 10 Jahre gemietet hat, nichts dagegen unternimmt. Wenn jemand dieses Problem schon einmal hatte, kann er mir sagen, was ich tun kann, um endlich mein Fenster öffnen zu können, wenn ich etwas koche – der Müll steht nur zwei Meter von meinem Küchenfenster entfernt. As you already said, there’s nothing you can do. I guess you could sue them for this and that, but ultimately it’s easier to just move out.

There is something you can do. You can reduce the rent; that’s the only thing landlords like that understand. Get advice from a tenants‘ association. A rent reduction of 10 to 20 percent is possible. Find a few allies in the building and then the landlord will take care of it as soon as he’s losing money
Where in Germany is this? It looks like an Erstaufnahmezentrum for refugees. (I worked in this field)
there is multiple issues there:
1. Seemingly your Landlord hasnt ordered enough bins or, if your neighbours arent living in the same house, the other houses havent orderered enough or right sized bins. Whatever the case is, the landlord with the garbage throwing tenants has to ensure there are enough bins present.
2. this place seems like a dead end? Your landlord could fence the area off if possible, at least keeps people out that are not living there.
3. those „dark“ dead ends tend to become exactly that, big trash bins. it could use some beauty work by your landlord, a fence or hedge, some cleaning. This is not YOUR task btw, if not stated in your rent contract.
so to fin that up: if you cannot open your kitchen window to cook, we call that „(erheblicher) Mietmangel“ and you should contact a local Mieterbund, the german Mieterbund or a lawyer for Mietrecht and try to force your landlord. In cooperation with a lawyer or similar professional by Mieterbund you can for example lower your rent or other measures so your landlord feels the urge to solve tthe problem. And if its not his problem a professional will find out whos problem it is and what to do and who to talk to solve this.

This is a common and widespread issue in German cities. It becomes especially difficult if the landlord doesn’t care about these problems. I would honestly suggest you to start looking for a new apartment, perhaps in a more clean part of the city you live in.
