>By the end of early voting, Talarico had outspent Crockett nearly five-to-one on advertising, including outside spending, according to media tracking firm AdImpact. Talarico, who began the race with much lower name recognition, spent $15.3 million on ads through his campaign alone, compared to Crockett’s $4.3 million; a pro-Talarico super PAC dropped another $7.7 million, while a super PAC boosting Crockett had spent less than $500,000.

Texas will be an uphill battle even with Talarico, but Crockett winning would have been an instant game over.

I like them both, and either one should be a Senator. But Talarico has a better chance of winning in Texas, I think.

How do you convince people who think black people are hoodlums ruining the country to vote for a black person?
I’ve seen people minding they’re own business who get harassed simply for being black in the wrong neighborhood

Crockett is a typical corproate dem and Talarico is significantly more progressive with all the progressive endorsements for a reason. Glad Talarico won.

As he should, while I enjoy a good Jasmine Crockett video odher grilling people, Talarico has what Republicans fear. Intelligent Christian Values with A grade debate form.

I like Crockett and she could have easily been a senator in a solid blue state but realistically you need a young charismatic straight Christian white man to flip Texas by converting enough voters or making enough GOP voters sit out.

I think too much is being made out of race and gender in this election.
For a Democrat to win statewide, they need a campaign that breaks through the fog and noise and reaches unmotivated voters.
Electability isn’t just about race or gender. Biden lost Texas and Kamala lost Texas and Wendy Davis lost Texas and Colin Allred lost Texas.
Beto came the closest, but it wasn’t because he was a white man, it’s because he ran a campaign of passion and genuinely reached out to voters. He didn’t have to compromise his progressive beliefs to do so, but he did have to run an inspired campaign, and you could tell that he poured his whole self into his campaign.
Both Crockett and Talarico reached people who have been feeling like they haven’t been spoken to, which is fantastic. The turnout shows what a race with great candidates can do.
(No shade on Gina Hinojosa or other statewide candidates, but they’re not the ones who drove turnout in this primary)
Ultimately, the primary shows which of the two candidates is better able to cut through the fog and the noise and get people to vote. They both ran great campaigns, and got Democrats in Texas more fired up than they’ve been in a long time. This time it went to Talarico, and we all need to get behind him. Not because we think he’s more “electable” or because of reading the tea leaves of some voter turnout models, but because he has showed that he can get voters excited, and he’s the nominee.
Republicans also had three people running in their Senate primary, and it looks like it will go to a runoff. But if you think the Paxton voters are going to stay home in November if Cornyn wins the nomination, you’re crazy. Republicans will be out voting.
We certainly haven’t seen the last of Jasmine Crockett, and I’m thrilled to have her in our camp. I hope she and her supporters come out in November and campaign up and down the ticket.
Gina can’t win Governor without Crockett AND Talarico voters.
Vicki Goodwin can’t win Lt Governor without Crockett AND Talarico voters.
Sarah Eckhardt can’t win Comptroller without Crockett AND Talarico voters.
There are great Democratic candidates of all races and genders up and down the ballot. Texas Democrats need to roll up their sleeves and get them elected

I could see him running for President and doing quite well in 10 years or so.

Talarico will not win sadly, and not because of Republicans in Texas. I fear this will turn into a race thing and Crockett voters will not go stand in line at the polls for Talarico in Nov. I hope im wrong, but based on FB comments it seems like it.

The majority of white voters in 2016, 2020, and 2024: ‚Thank god no POC is running in Texas again! Our main focus is on the cruelty towards LGBTQ individuals and non-white people. We value the promises that have been made and kept. We’re only one year in, with at least three more years ahead, so it’s time to accept this reality!‘
Of those who participated in the last three elections, the majority of white men and white women backed a racist, fascist, sexist, war-mongering pedophile. It was never about the price of eggs.

These two bright stars should not be competing for anything. Together they would be a force to be reckoned with. Hoping for the day they sway voters into reality of unity and out of hate and destruction.
