      Funny. Was in Russia last summer and no issues other than getting there. Had to fly to Istanbul and wait for an available seat, all flights booked solid.

      First of all, most advises seem to be reasonable from a late-February standpoint, although of some green countries I’m really wondering if many Finnish people wouldn’t need to take extra precautions because most likely in some of those you absolutely need to.

      Besides that, it might sometimes also involve the level of diplomatic assistance that can be provided and to what extent there is stability in a country, even when compromised, it doesn’t mean you have a total war situation, see Russia and North Korea versus Sudan.

      About the people asking why Russia is red: yes, it is red because not only is the level of diplomatic assistance that Finland could offer very limited, it also is a risk knowing you are technically from what the Russian government calls an „unfriendly state“ even though you might be close to home (I’d argue that you might’ve already crossed a border fence one way or another if not flying via Istanbul), and one wrong word, symbol or way of expression can get punished the hard way.
