  1. It will be interesting to see if any more candidates jump into this race now that Tory is out. A lot of people in the business community want Chow gone, and some of them must be smart enough to realize Bradford is not going to win. Tory is liberal enough to form a centrist coalition that can win, so it would need to be another person from that political persuasion. Bradford is simultaneously both too right wing, and too left wing, to be able to win.

Terrible news. John Tory was the right guy at the right time with a vision for Toronto that was simply incomparable. Olivia Chow is only going to do more damage to the great city

  3. Wonder if Bailao tries again. She had a real shot last time – may have even pulled it off if she had a few more weeks.

  4. Thank god. I’m convinced the name recognition voters combined with Ford voters in the suburbs would give him a fighting chance to win.

The Toronto mayoral election is nonpartisan by law, which therefore means it’s mostly a battle for name recognition, and less about platforms or ideology. Chow has a record to defend, but also has name recognition. Another factor is the dismally low turnout.
