Fauxmoi is a toxic cesspit overall but I do think it’s pretty fucked to ditch a pet for someone you’re dating. Pets are part of the family, at least to me, they aren’t toys that you can toss to the side when you’ve had enough of them. It’s a commitment to the animal when you adopt one. That’s a shitty thing to do imho.
C’mon now, making your partner get rid of their animals as an ultimatum is super shitty. Didn’t seem like she was messing to me, she seemed quite proud actually.

Tbf some Irish people say things about cats they’d never dream saying about dogs, likening them to vermin, should be shot etc.
I think it’s a weird flex they have, it’s cool and edgy to talk shit about cats, maybe a post catholic/Christian hangover IE cats are evil and the devils creatures. Or perhaps they feel insecure around an animal that doesn’t give a shit about them, wants its own space and doesn’t bound up to greet them.
The same sub had their pictforks out for John Davidson last week. I consider myself a progressive person but I lost all hope for America after reading those comments /watching the reasonable takes get downvoted to oblivion.

That sub is filled with chronically online, insane people. I’d agree it’s not cool to ask a partner to get rid of their pets, but if a cat is shitting all over the bed it’s maybe not the most unreasonable request either.

Absolutely nothing. In fact spiders have proven to have complex cognition. They have learning, memory, spatial awareness, and decision-making, yet people hit them with brushes and kill them.
You don’t have to like cats to be a good person and accepted in society. She is not harming anyone by saying that she doesn’t like cats and wouldn’t like to live with cats. That’s her preference. It doesn’t make her a monster. The same way it doesn’t make someone a monster to say that they wouldn’t live with a spider.
I’m actually tired of people being high and mighty over a personal preference of someone who is not even related to them or in their life. These parasocial relationships with celebrities has got to stop even the cancelling shite over something as small as a personal preference or living arrangement.
I would absolutely refuse to live in a house with someone who owns pitbulls or any sort of subspecies of a pit, so maybe she feels the same way about cats. Leave her be. If the boyfriend willingly gave up his cats then maybe he feels like his own human girlfriends needs mean more to him.
I can’t speculate. I do know that if someone asked me to get rid of my animals I wouldn’t but that’s my personal preference. I don’t knock anyone who would make the sacrifice for their girlfriend. Again that’s their business, not mine. So maybe we should be putting an end to judging other people’s personal preferences.
No way I’d get rid of my meow meow for anyone. They will be the ones out the door. If you don’t like cats, then you certainly can’t like me.
