Just a bit strange he’d tell them that after they’ve said that to him about 100 times since the war began…

Did Iran hook Grok up to their Missiles or something? Why are they still shooting at us? Who’s telling the missiles to keep fighting! THE MISSILES DIDN’T GET THE E-MAIL! Someone please think of the missiles!

Someone send a message on a One-Way-Attack UAS to the missiles!

If the military is gone I do wonder who is still killing the troops.

Not even a believable lie lol. They’ve killed, if I had to guess, a few thousand Iranians at this point (counting both soldiers and civilians). Iran has a population of 92 million people. There is a mandatory 2 year military service for men over the age of 18 that has very few exceptions. On paper, Iran has about 650k active duty soldiers and 350k reservists. In reality, as the conflict goes on, a huge portion of the veteran population is going to return to service so if this drags on there will likely be several million active duty soldiers.

  5. So war crimes?

Not willing for peace talks. Wants forever war and death

So, if it’s too late for negotiation, what’s the end game, Agent Orange?

Afganistan’s military and government was also „gone“ quickly into the conflict started by the last Republican president. However, history is pretty clear that the conflict in Afganistan did not end quickly.

Obliterated just like the nuclear program was last year right? Right??

  9. Trump doesn’t seem to realize their ability for retaliation and basic actual threat does not necessarily lay in just their military? It lies in their religious zealots and belief for personal sacrifice to retaliate. Did 9/11 along with their historical use of religious sacrifice for retaliation? It’s literally the reason why individual terrorism became such a danger in the last 30 years.

I don’t know… I read earlier today that the Trump admin reached out to Iran for an off ramp before the end of the first day and Iran told them they’re no longer interested in negotiating.

It’s definitely an odd feeling to find myself thinking that the Iranian side of this story is closer to the truth.

  11. If a country’s military has been completely defeated, isn’t that the exact time for talks?

  12. gooberfishie on

Everyone he is supposed to talk to or is talking to seems to just get drawn out and blown up. That’s not a great incentive for Iran to come to the table.

Iran is a massive country with a fairly treacherous landscape. The Iran Iraq war went on for decade with Iran holding their own despite Iran just having gone through a revolution and having no functional government or military when it started. Iran has been waiting for this in this case.

This is not going to be quick or easy like Iraq was (which was still catastrophic for the Iraqi people)

„Iran’s nuclear capability has been obliterated“ and then 2 months later „We had to go to war to destroy Iran’s nuclear capability“

So him saying Iran’s army is „gone“ is meaningless stupidity. He lies.

Wasn’t there like a small little convention after WWII that disussed international rules and norms of „war“?

Seems like ignoring a side that wants to talk violates these rules/norms?

  16. Ezpz_commentz on

Trump: We’re talking to Iran and they seem open to negotiate, we’ll see what happens.

Iran: No negotiation with the enemy!

Trump: I didn’t wanna talk anyway.

  17. PopularFrontForCake on

„too late“? They were in talks already when HE attacked THEM. What the hell else were they supposed to do?

  18. Didn’t we try to get them to talk about a ceasefire and they promptly rejected it? I hope these guys aren’t overestimating their hand with Iran.

  19. Is their military „completely gone“ just like their nuclear programs was „completely obliterated“ months ago but is now somehow an imminent threat to America?

Great, another power vacuum to be filled with every Arabic hillbilly that owns an AK and a Toyota Hilux

I’m sure the people are grateful the help came in the form of decimating command structure without anything underneath it

Of course, most of this probably isn’t true and for all we know people are still alive in the military that are ready to just keep sending it like they have been since this began

Aha, so we have reached the prematurely triumphal „Mission Accomplished“ stage of the invasion?
