Yeah right. They are still gonna spy on you. Doesn’t matter. Still boycott that shit.

    2. How can they change the deal after agreeing to it? Yeah, this is just BS at this stage.

If it’s just Altman saying they changed the deal, nothing changed. The man lies as he breathes.

      >On Monday OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman said the company planned to add language to its agreement, including explicitly prohibiting the use of its systems to spy on Americans.

      Thank god that’s over. LOL

    5. Seriously! You are giving them a key to the locked door, saying “but do not open it” and leave, yeah we are going to trust them after this!

    6. He’s full of shit, of course, but still it shows the backlash has been noticed.

    7. Lmao they changed the deal? The amount of layers of procurement rules with government entities is so complex and layered that you often need specialized training just to be part of it. You don’t just ‚change the contract‘ LOL.

They can change whatever they want, and the feds will likely tell them to kick rocks because the terms were probably binding. What a load of shit.

    8. I don’t believe them.

They caved to the government’s demands,

then they caved to the users demands,

and they’ll cave again when the government demands they hand over direct access to all user accounts.

    9. And what about the hundreds of millions of non-Americans who use and/or pay for thier products and will become critical to their future success? Are they afforded any of the same promises around surveillance or is it just Americans? I’m guessing not.

From transparent to covert. The next step is an article discussing the gov’ts disappointment with this charge of heart.

Orange Man probably advised Alternative Man to just lie because look how it works for him.

    12. ChatGPT sucks. There are a lot of great AI tools out there but I understand why people are so down on LLMs and AI in general, and it is likely because most of their exposure is to ChatGPT.

I can’t think of another CEO that exemplifies the „Trust me bro“ persona more than Altman. Musk definitely doesn’t have that self-assured confidence of the „Trust me bro“ type, he’s more of the „Ackshually…“ variety.

    14. This just shows that OpenAI is desperate for funding. For Anthropic, this is a paper cut.

Yes, maybe they will add language–but what Anthropic said was basically that after all their guardrail language, the DoD contract said, roughly, „The foregoing notwithstanding, the DoD can use the product for all legal purposes.“ Essentially voiding any other restrictions.

Unless that is taken out, and I doubt it, because otherwise why would the DoD have agreed to it when they had their panties in a bunch about Anthropic including those same terms, then any language they add is meaningless.
