      I mean, pretending a comedy bit using faux stunned silence is actually stunned silence so that you can write an article about it is beyond pathetic. Sadly, that doesn’t even make it an outlier. But what the fuck are we doing publishing articles that have to pull this comically bad sleight of hand to come up with content?

      *Daily Show* host Jon Stewart tore into Donald Trump – and his MAGA enablers in the media and congress – for pulling America into a war with Iran without making a compelling case for it to the public.

      “Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but even regimes I disagreed with respected the American people enough, or felt some obligation, to at least lie to us in primetime,” Stewart said as he played footage of President George W. Bush delivering a televised address on Iraq.

      While Trump has made some brief phone calls to members of the media, he’s largely ducked answering questions from the assembled press on camera.

      On Monday, Trump briefly mentioned Iran during a Medal of Honor ceremony. Stewart rolled footage of the event in which Trump spotted the gold drapes hanging over the windows and spent nearly two minutes digressing about the curtains, how he selected them and the ballroom currently under construction at the White House.

      When the camera returned to Stewart, he sat in silence for a full 14 seconds.

      “I can’t believe it,” Stewart said. “Our bombs are now smarter than our president.”

      stunned into silence? You mean he didn’t talk for some amount of time for comedic effect?

      I tried watching this daily show segment and could not get through it. Trump isn’t funny anymore. Making fun of his hat isn’t funny. War isn’t funny. People are dying. This daily show shit is starting to feel like a controlled opposition psy op to soften people’s reaction to war crimes by turning it all into a silly joke. And this Jon stewart guy looks just as orange as Trump, dude looks like shit.
