Is it really a closed system?

There’s been a fair few times I’ve bought digital PS games elsewhere for cheaper than on the store and you just get a code to download the game.

Sony generally sells consoles at very small/no profit so I do worry this could be a “careful what you wish for” situation.

About time. PlayStation has been price gouging on their store for decades.

The shift to digital is a problem and one reason I haven’t bought the next model console(always preferred owning physical games as something to touch for the money spent).

Prices are an issue, and I hope this case helps address that issue for people here in their day to day lives.

Digital being more expensive than disc doesn’t bother me so much, it’s always up and down, sometimes cheaper sometimes not, you can also see it with movies, kindle books etc.

What does bother me is publishers, of all those materials, going ah yeah $1 USD = £1 GBP right? Sure, close enough. 1/3 markup for the privilege of not using the almighty dollar.

      Forget the games just give me a controller I can repair without a soldering iron ;-;

Can we add in a case for an almost complete and utter lack of customer servicing and an extremely unfair refunds policy?

Ive never got why people prefer digital to disc (when available). Like yeah you maybe able to play the game a little bit quicker by downloading it but its hardly a deal breaker.

Amazon offer next day or even same day delivery, and ive bought games at say £60 and traded them in after completing for £25-30 cash. When you can get nearly half your money back why wouldnt you buy disc?

    8. These idiots again, they’re in the same group that sue Microsoft/Nintendo/value/epic 247.

They’ve been doing it for a decade and never won once.

A 30% cut is standard in business, every business. My mum takes a cut of 30% in her craft store.

These lawsuits are just a colossal waste of time.

    9. This isn’t even my biggest gripe with Sony. My biggest is them forcing you to have a subscription to them to be able to use the online features of games you’ve already paid for. Steam doesn’t force me to subscribe to them to play my PC games online. It’s kind of like Microsoft forcing you to subscribe before it will allow Windows to connect to the Internet.

Due to this being a somewhat interesting topic, I did check using marvels spiderman 2 on the US ps store it’s $69.99 = £52.22 but on the UK store it’s £69.99 = £93.80.

I compared to xbox using arc raiders because my mind is blank at the moment and that’s what popped into my head first, US store $39.99 = £29.84 vs UK store £30.99 = $41.53.

So while prices differ a little on xbox it’s no where near as egregious as the ps stores region differences, granted you could just buy a game key for spiderman 2 for under £50.

Seems like a pretty valid lawsuit to me.
