The US struck Iran fearing its president would lose the next election without war powers.
This, from Rubio and subsequent comments from Speaker Mike Johnson are just shocking in their candor.
Rubio:
>“We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn’t preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties.“
Johnson:
>“Israel was determined to act in their defense here, with or without our help…Because Israel was determined to act, with or without the U.S., our commander in chief had a very difficult decision to make“
Am I hearing things, or are Rubio and Johnson essentially coming out and saying – or at least coming dangerously close to saying – that „the Israelis dragged us into this war“?
Would explain why the U.S. State Department is running around like a chicken with its head cut off to evacuate diplomatic personnel from neighboring Arab states while the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh is in flames.
Man…. They don’t even have a stable reason yet.
There were reports coming out before saying, “ It will be better politically if Israel attacks first.“ They did it this way for the optics.
It’s all optics, spin
“White House officials believe ‘the politics are a lot better’ if Israel strikes Iran first “

So when Hegseth said we didn’t start this war, he meant Israel wanted us to do it for them, so it’s not our fault if it goes badly.
