If true then good on Qatar. A new era for the Middle East may be at hand. This is such a long way away from when Qatar was an ally of the Islamic regime.

Iran still had airplanes?!

I would be taking Qatars claimed air kills with a grain of salt. Perhaps Iran tried to time this attack between US and Israeli operations, perhaps they thought they seen a gap in the defences. Perhaps Qatar has taken of the „gates“ on their radars that wash out slow moving targets and a jumpy pilot pinged two Shaheds claiming them as MiGs.

In the event someone is interested, the British were the first to run into this problem back in 1940, theyd scramble some chaps in their hurryhomes and spits to intercept what would turn out to be flocks of birds, enough birds could return a blob that looked like an aircraft. So over the years various electric gizmos then software was built into the radars to try to remove objects that were below a certain size, certain speed or other factors. These are called „gates“. But in the new world we live, slow moving and small things are a big problem. US itself had this very issue with the Chinese spy balloon, it took the gates off its big radars and we had a couple of weeks of F-22s pinging lost weather balloons and bothing being the greatest over match in aviation history and gaining the F-22 a reputation as a balloon killer (if you ever see jokes about it related to balloons)
So its quite possible various air forces in the region are seeing the sky full of a lot more than they have been used too and may be getting a wee bit jumpy.

So say Iran regime falls and it’s open season what happens? Iran gets sliced up? Or will it just be another Yemen like rouge state with 6 governments fighting for controls and everybody just leaves it alone pretty much?

I’m amazed some of these planes are still in use. Not just on the Iranian side, the US is still using F-15s, F-16s… designed in the late 70s.
(yes I know the B-52 is way older but it’s not a jet fighter, I think that’s kind of a different discussion).

Never though I’d cheer for Qatar, but good job.
