I know it’s the viewing angle that causes the effect, but it almost always looks like the ballistic missiles have a big boost in speed in the very final descent.

Edit: So it is actually hitting a booster (at least on Fattah-1 ballistic missiles, and possibly others) and not just the phenomenon/effect from viewing angle. [Source here say Iran is likely the first country to use a rocket motor on a hypersonic rocket re-entry vehicle.](https://www.missiledefenseadvocacy.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Iran-Hypersonicc-missile-limited-distribution-7.6.2023-1-1.pdf)

During re-entry the Fattah-1 will use it motor and fins to [change from its more predictable ballistic trajectory](https://imgur.com/a/8AIiQsk), ‚pull up‘ for flatter flight while also making 3 dimensional maneuvers, then pitch its nose down for a steep controlled drive to the target.

Remember also that they can and have used a variety of ballistic missiles within the same salvo/barrage.

Is this a missile with a stage for a burst of speed to avoid interception from anti-missile defense systems?

All the explosions of Iranian missiles I’ve seen seem very small in comparison to footage we’re seeing from Israel or Ukraine

  4. Iranian must have learned from last time. Looks like more missiles are passing through than ever.

  5. Once Iran has finished its geopolitical-scale mag-dump there will hopefully be space to end this thing.

That said I don’t imagine there being a scenario where whichever interim guys ends up in charge of Iran don’t keep pulling the trigger until the country itself makes a giant ping like an empty Garand.

Keep hitting the factories, keep hitting the launchers, keep shooting them down. Then negotiate with whoever is left*.

I don’t think America should have started this thing, but having started it, get it done.

*That’s a Phil Leotardo from the Sopranos reference, it is not a call to bring back the Shah of Iran.
