    Looks like it’s a party.

For context, the Iranian response to the US-Israeli strikes has been to launch ballistic missiles at a bunch of Arabian gulf states hosting ~~US~~ western forces, as well as to stir up the Houthi rebels to again cause trouble in the region, especially to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

France has bases and interests in the region like everyone else, and wants to be positioned to response to attacks against its interests, whether by the IRGC (what’s left of it) or its proxy terrorist forces.

Is this going to turn into a world war with more great powers joining? Likely not. Russia condemned the strikes against Iran but didn’t lift a finger to help, same as when the Assad regime fell. China hasn’t even offered a statement condemning the US-Israeli strikes. Their silence is telling. Iran’s out of friends in the big players that would make this a world war.

But maybe it’ll turn into a regional war. There’re some interesting potential geopolitical shifts in the region. A lot of those gulf states Iran attacked are furious at Iran and usually just give strongly worded condemnations when they’ve been attacked in the past. But now the UAE who was one of Iran’s lifelines is closing its embassy in Tehran and withdrawing (for good reason, Iran attacked them with missiles and drones which destroyed a high rise), potentially signally they’re on the path to severing all diplomatic relations with Iran, which would be huge. There aren’t too many stops on the train to war left after that, if Iran continues to attack their soil and causes casualties.

Iran’s always been a thorn in the side of the gulf states, but up till now nobody’s wanted to draw the ire of the IRGC. The US and Israeli strikes have probably changed the calculus a bit, having *seriously* degraded their military and decapitated all semblance of regime leadership. If the Islamic Republic regime is on its last legs, opportunistic gulf states might decide to join in the party to eliminate their biggest rival and fomenter of terrorism in their neighborhood.

So looks like this war is heating up.

  2. What is Iran’s plan to make as many enemies as possible with its missiles?
France had no intention of doing anything in this war..

  3. France and other European countries are getting involved to prevent the Strait of Hormuz from being shut down.

People asking if this is ww3.

Yeah for Iran. It’s gonna be the world against them

  5. Cant believe I’m saying this but the US bombing the middle east is probably the most normal thing that has happened this year so far.

  6. Closing the straight is an issue for global trade and oil, and thus an issue for Europe.

Is Trump going to drag Europe into his new war with Iran?

So is the alliance with our traditional allies on or off? What does Trump want to do?

I’m pretty confused. Some of the confusion might be my own fault, but maybe this confusion is intended.

Iran is like a deer that got shot by an arrow through its lungs…It’s dead, it just doesn’t know it yet…

    Armageddon?

    Anyone?

Hmmm? I wonder who is playing the part of the „Antichrist“?

They’ll have to face it backwards as French military vehicles only have reverse gear.
