I’m 100% sure someone is going to ask „is this man crazy?“ and the answer to that is yes he is but the right kind of crazy.

We are helping the foreign commander of Omega Company get a set of dual tube NVGs. Normally we don’t help soldiers get dual tubes as they are more expensive. This is an exceptional case though.

The soldier asking for the NVGs was one of the first to arrive in Ukraine over 4 years ago. He is still there. He has been injured several times but one injury was extremely serious and unfortunately led to to him losing his leg below his knee. However he will still be cleared to go back into a frontline position.

Omega was a foreign team in GUR Legion. It has now expanded into a company, meaning for more soldiers. There are not many foreign soldiers with extensive experience fighting in Ukraine who are still willing and physically able to lead assault teams given so many people have been injured or understandable would like to step into other roles given the danger and toll on their bodies. This soldier WANTS to go. The reason he is asking for dual NVGs is that having one prosthetic leg means he may have balance issues. Having good depth perception while at night is also essential.

I also want to share that this is a soldier I personally know; he has a reputation in Ukraine for being exceptionally good in the field and exceptionally tough. The phrase that multiple other soldiers have said about him is „I do not want to have a beer with him. I will go to war with him.“ That is really the only endorsement you need.
