Just to be very clear on this, because I can already see where this is going to go considering how many people online are choosing this as their next Concord target:
They mean AI in the old sense of the word. The NPC combatants in the game. The lines they use are not AI generated. It’s just a creepy and neat mechanic in the game. It has nothing to do with gen AI.

Then a real player can use a recorded version of the bots and mimic them

The NPC just hits the emote voice line…..it’s not copying the voices or what players are saying…
That’s not even a new thing. Tons of horror games have used enemies that repeat player chat.
probably the most interesting thing I’ve heard about the game so far.
I just spent 2 days playing the game. That is a ghost commander, and it does this repeatedly as its lore based. They want you to join the UESC instead of looting the place. They spam this if you stealth nearby them.
Those bots that jack into you as you lay dying is the ultimate disrespect. It’s a great touch by Bungie.
