Alright boys, time to send in American troops, install democracy, fight with the locals for 20 years, spend a bazillion dollars, cut a deal with a local terrorist group, frantically leave and abandon billions of dollars of equipment, and celebrate mission accomplished!

I do not agree with our involvement, but nothing of any value was lost. This religious fascist held Iran hostage for decades.

Great. Now what’s the plan for stability in Iran now that we’ve created a power vacuum? Some rogue general going to take over? Another religious zealot? The Shah’s son?

Oh that’s right – there is no plan; just like always.

and now where at a point where we can just kill and kidnap any countries leader and trump will get away with it cause of money. is america willing to sink that low that trump can do ANY and all taboos and face no punishment for it

I’ll take that. But Trump has no ability or desire to back out. Chaos will ensue, and the people with the most arms, power, and ability now will take over. Trump still has nothing.

Crazy thought, but whether you like it or not: Iran – and any other U.N. member states – seem to now be legally justified in retaliating by bombing Mar-a-Lago and assassinating President Trump under Article 51 of the U.N. charter.

Edit: This is not a call to violence. It is an explicit and reasonable interpretation of Article 51 of the U.N. charter, with precedent.

  7. And this is all happening to prevent a paedophile from being brought to justice.

    Well done, America.

  8. The cruelty and stupidity of the USA never ceases to amaze me, even at my most cynical.

Good, but will the next guy actually put in the effort and resources to fix Iran’s water infrastructure? and will Israel and the US ever give them the chance to do so?

Good riddance, but this isn’t just a fleeting military operation like in Venezuela. This was the largest US military buildup in the middle east since the war in Iraq. Regime change isn’t going to happen over night. Iran’s power structure and institutions aren’t sure to collapse, and the Ayatollah could easily be replaced by another hardline figure.

There will be rippling consequences in the region and perhaps for most of the world.

We’re talking power vacuums and the fights to fill them, years of destabilization, violence and chaos, ongoing military incursions, proxy battles, terrorist attacks and infighting, perhaps even civil war.

Also global trade disruptions, market shocks, and sharply rising oil prices in response to Strait of Hormuz closures.

And of course all of the resources that will be spent and the innocent lives lost.

All the while, this administration will continue to lie and double down about the threat of Iran’s nuclear program, about Trump’s pretext for invasion and bombing Iran *again.*

So much for „America first“ isolationism huh?

This was a war of choice, not of necessity. That’s what so many of his supporters refuse to acknowledge. That this is a war under false pretenses, with little to no support from the American people, and it is absolutely unnecessary.

Whatever the immediate outcome of this situation, Trump and his partner in war crimes (Netanyahu) will justify why these military incursions are necessary, insisting that they’ve „liberated“ a region of the world that they helped irrevocably destabilize.

And let’s be clear. This administration flouts democratic norms and violates the basic human rights and dignity of Americans at home.

FFS, Islamophobia and anti-arab sentiments are at the heart of the Republican party’s messaging and culture wars!

So If you think Donald Trump, his supporters and allies care at all about the freedoms of the Iranian people, then I’ve got some Trump meme coin to sell you.

[Note that the Ayatollah criticized his protestors as agent provocateurs working for his enemies. Trump has used this same paranoid rhetoric against protestors here in the US. A pretty disturbing parallel]

Trump has also categorically refused to take in refugees from the middle east, and if we consider his actions in Venezuela, his belligerent threats aimed at allies and adversaries alike, as well as all of his recent hawkish and antagonistic rhetoric, it becomes clear that this operation and all future US military interventions are for purposes related more to Trump’s ego and „legacy“ than anything else.

Trump has transformed US foreign policy to reflect his own self interests and his spitefulness towards other world leaders, nations and political enemies.

And what happened to „no more foreign wars?“ Trump continues to bomb a growing list of countries.

BETTER YET, what happened to „obliterating“ all of Iran’s nuclear capabilities?

These strikes confirm that Trump’s „midnight hammer“ operation was a failure, and of course that he lied to Americans about destroying Iran’s nuclear program.

But he has also been lying to us about the looming threat of an Iranian nuclear weapon.

Iran was far from being any practical nuclear threat to the United States.

Claims similar to Netanyahu’s repeated warnings over the course of decades about an imminent Iranian Nuclear Weapon.

Every piece of intel and reporting contradicts Trump’s reasoning for this military action. History is repeating itself.

Trump has been escalating provocations with Iran throughout his entire time in office. Hell, congress even had to pass a war powers resolution to curb his appetite for foreign conflict after he unilaterally authorized the strike that killed General Soleimani.

Trump’s decision to sanction Iran’s oil and banking system back in 2018 only crippled its economy and sped up its destabilization, the repercussions of which were at the center of recent protests.

The assassination of Soleimani, coupled with Trump’s decision to abandon the previous nuclear deal out of sheer spite for Obama, together with his failed attempts at „negotiating“ a new deal with Iran, AND alongside his reckless foreign policy decisions—all of these things played a role in triggering now MULTIPLE regional wars between Israel and Iran and precipitating America’s involvement.

Trump chose to start another war in the Middle East to avoid having to take responsibility for his failures of foreign policy and his failure as commander in chief.

He has been striking at Iran and escalating tensions in the Persian gulf for years; laying the GROUNDWORK for this needless intervention.

  11. He was 86 years old. They could have waited 1 more year, he would have been dead anyway.

    >Step one: go in blasting

    >Step three: ?????

    >Step four: say it was always your intention for whatever the hell ends up happening and that you deserve the Nobel fifa prize for best diplomat and not shitting your pants award

  13. Guys I have a crazy idea. What if we just stop blowing stuff up for a minute and build some roads and schools? Maybe even some high speed rail.

People need to understand that the guy that will replace him is going to be even more radical. There are no moderates in the Iranian government, only hard liners. The next guy is going to be even more hardline radical. The entire experience of western powers messing around in the Middle East for over 100 years shows that regime change doesn’t lead to stability, only more chaos.

  15. Im sure they had 0 succession plans for their sick 86 year old leader.
