That is not a border because saying it is a border will hurt feelings and can be interpreted as recognizing the TRNC as a legitimate state; instead, that is a „gate“, „checkpoint“, or „crossing“, etc.

Some of our Cypriot brothers and sisters really care about these words because they were taught this way, and they(these terms) carry emotional weight.

So don’t even try to explain in Turkish; gate, checkpoint, or crossing all have one-word equivalents: „border“ because we respect the emotional party.

Don’t start saying, „what about“ getting respected to this and that, etc.

Stop what aboutism and grow up.

Respect can not be demanded. First, we respect without reciprocation. And hope for the best because Game Theory only works when someone acts as a grown-up.
