It’s a very interesting result because European Muslims are very conservative but vote for the left wing I would assume primarily due to self interest.
For instance [only 18% of UK Muslims](https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/apr/11/british-muslims-strong-sense-of-belonging-poll-homosexuality-sharia-law) believe that homosexuality should be legal.
But again social issues are secondary at the moment which is why you see such a strong leftist and Muslim alliance in the UK and really throughout Europe.
I would argue this will come to a head eventually.

They become right wing when they become majority provided the right wing government is follow Muslim ideologies. They cannot truly ever be left wing given how anti LGBTQ they are
So they vote for more redistribution and also for open borders. Surprise pickachu?
The relationship between European muslims and left-wing parties is mostly just that of „the enemy of my enemy is my friend“. Doesn’t mean that the two groups necessarily have a lot in common.
Surely it’s a coincidence that these parties support bringing more of them to Europe

The political space in most European democracies is two dimensional at least. „Left“ means different things
Right wing parties are actively hostile towards them, it’s an awkward alliance that will break as soon as there’s a better option for muslims. They are still deeply conservative.
I feel like this will only further polarize the issue of immigration in Europe
for the Netherlands, DENK is not left wing.
I think this is explained in a similar way as the fact that for example Turkish people in Germany tend to vote more conservatively in Turkish elections.
The people who are less conservative become Germans, and thus no longer vote in Turkish elections.
By the same logic, the muslims (large portions of which are immigrants) in Germany who vote in German elections are probably the less conservative ones, as the more conservative ones often still retain a foreign citizenship instead of becoming German.
The fact that european rightwing parties hate muslims probably doesn’t help either.
This is the kind of truistic data that reinforces preconcieved data. Rw looks at these voting patterns and says, „aha, i knew radical islam was a leftist ideology.“ Lw look at this and say, „aha, i knew the rw was so viruently racist that even their ideological brothers cant vote rw!“
So wheres the analysis that provides depth to truistic patterns?

When you or your family come from an authoritarian country it shifts your options strongly to the left.

incredibly „european muslims“ aren’t actually one singular super-conservative islamist groupthink blob but actually a pretty diverse set of people with different interests! wow!
Is it that the voters are left wing, or that the right wing is anti-Muslim so they’re against them?
