  1. “Ahead of March First Independence Movement Day, amid controversy over a generative AI video mocking independence activist Yu Gwan sun, posts were also discovered mocking Kim Gu.

Professor Seo Kyung duk of Sungshin Women’s University said on the 27th via social media, ‘A netizen tipped me off,’ adding, ‘On TikTok, a photo of Kim Gu was posted with captions mocking him, saying, “What’s with that face? Is he even human?”’

He continued, ‘On a photo of the well known pro Japanese figure Yi Wan yong, captions were uploaded praising him, saying, “Wow, look at that presence. I almost peed my pants.”’

He added, ‘It is truly regrettable that this is happening ahead of March First Independence Movement Day,’ and said, ‘Experts tell me that it is not easy to impose legal punishment for this kind of content.’

He went on to say, ‘If such content is discovered, the most important thing is for netizens to actively report it so the videos cannot gain exposure,’ adding, ‘We will continue to carry out campaigns to protect the honor of independence activists.’”
