isn’t focusing on what we can control Carney’s line?

He spent the first quarter of his speech talking about how you can’t control external events. Then talks about China and America.
When he finally comes back to Canada he says that we have politicians blocking exports from our country. I’m not sure what he means by that but wouldn’t that also be external events regarding the quote he gave at the start? Or does he think we are some kind of homogenous organism that is controlled by a single cell?
Overall, I just want the conservatives to have a clear message regarding what they are offering we should do. No theatrics please.

If you read the conservative economic platform, you’ll realise that Mark Carney is doing almost 80-85% of things in the conservative platform already, putting PCs in a box.
There aren’t many proposed PC policies that Mark Carney hasn’t implemented already. Remember “Axe the tax” a year long slogan was turned to dust when carney himself pulled the carbon tax. Same goes for tax cuts, pipeline approval and interprovincial trade. Conservatives need to get back to the drawing board and get some new policy platforms. I liked their idea of building affordable housing around public transport hubs more ideas like that can be useful.

Is this because Carney referenced Thucydides at Davos that Poilievre thought he too needed to bring up others from Antiquity?

Holy fucking shit, this loser says Canada should focus on what it can control then turns around and says Carney should focus on a tariff-free trade deal with Trump. It’s a rhetorical question at this point but is Poilievre fucking stupid?

PP was the guy to beat Trudeau. Loudmouth beats smug. But against Carney he just seems like a poor man’s Trump. Conservatives need a new leader.
IDreamOfLoveLost on
I’m no fan of Poilievre. Particularly because of how far right the Federal Conservatives seem to have swung in terms of social policy. But it’s good see him addressing things that Donald has yammered about.
>“Our trade surplus does not represent exploitation by Canada of the United States of America — quite the opposite. In fact it is the result of us selling very good and very well priced, in fact below market priced, raw materials which America then upgrades and turns into massive profits for its economy,“ he said.
This in particular is something that needs to be pointed out, over and over again. I wouldn’t go so far as to say we’re subsidizing the United States. *But* the benefits they reap from the affordable raw resources are undeniable.

He’s just said everything Carney is actually doing. To have one liners like we have to make a deal with Trump is hilarious that when we do make a deal, Conservatives will say, Carney stole that idea. LOL
Carney is a man of few words and instead just gets on with it. All this stuff PP is saying about Trump is a year too late. He got into his own mess when he wouldn’t say any of those things. He sees the tide turning on Trump so he realizes he better get ahead of it. Too little, too late.

I watched his speech. He was so close to hitting the mark them completely missed it going back to saying we still need to trade with the US and make a deal.
Still can’t seem understand there is no deal with the US that benefits Canada. Because any deal with Trump has to have a clear winner and loser. He’s still saying make an auto manufacturing deal with the US, yet Trump has made it clear he doesn’t want cars made outside of the US.

So, stating things about Canada that would be factually obvious to a fourth grader, racist dog whistles to his supporters about China, and repeating what Carney is already doing. That’s the new strategy? I guess when your new strategist doesn’t allow you to aggressively blame immigrants for Canada’s problems, openly hate on trans and queer people, talk about how the country is broken , deny climate change, sidle up to anti-vaxxers and separatists, and with Trudeau long gone, there’s not much left for him to say to get in the news cycle.

It must be such a relief for him to not be in office and have to be specific. It’s so much easier to just speak vaguely about vibes and say „job done“.

A little late there bud, maybe should have taken this stance during the election, maybe you should have had this stance all along, it’s like you are just doing it now as an extreme move due to your failures….
I don’t trust you, I don’t trust the country in your hands, I don’t trust as leader of the opposition, you are part of the reason for this country being in the position it currently is by instead of working with the liberals and trying to get their legislation to reflect a bit more conservative value in exchange for voting with the liberals you instead vote against them like 100% of the time.
You’re not good for Canada, Canadians have moved on, you lost your seat, you’re making MP’s want to cross the floor, it’s time for you to move on.

„As prime minister, Poilievre says he would go into the CUSMA review asking for an end to tariffs on steel, aluminum, autos and softwood lumber“ If you read between the lines, he will kiss Trumps genitalia to get it done.
Poilievre „China is not a substitute for the United States of America“
