    1. I’m pleasantly surprised that the Liberals have pulled to within 3 points of the PQ. Because, just a month or so ago, the media were practically declaring that a PQ win was a foregone conclusion. It looks like an actual race now.

    2. Liberal playbook for the last year has simply been

      1) read the room
      2) do the pragmatic thing
      3) win

      – while your opponent is still stuck in 2024

      With all due respect to Mr. Milliard, I’m not sure the guy who couldn’t even win his own party leadership campaign, when he had actual opponents, should brag about being the man to lead a potential referendum campaign.

      Right now his numbers are good because he’s largely unknown, and is taking advantage of that blank-canvas effect by trying to please everyone. „I’m a nationalist, and a regionalist, and a federalist“ is cute, but that won’t work for long. He’ll eventually need to take a stand on something.
