The problem for Poilievre here is that the only real opening is for him to argue that Trump is a temporary aberration and we should thus continue to integrate with the US since they will eventually return to normal. This point of view is quite popular with the business community, but there is no appetite for it with Canadians at large.
He really bungled this whole situation by conceding the entire anti-Trump ground to the Liberals last year, and it simply is not possible to compete on that frame anymore.

How does PP plans to do that when:
1) He’s not in power and has made his trademark of criticizing everything the Liberals does?
2) Has consistently been using the same rhetoric as Trump words for words.
3) Has lost the confidence of a majority of Canadians.
Cue Poilievre doing like Ford and impeding more and potential trade negotiations than helping them, and then complaining that the Liberals are „doing nothing“.
After years of disruption, I do NOT trust this guy but not one bit!

Problem with Pierre is what he says and promises to his voters is horrible for buisness’s, corporations and investors .
Corporations and investors dont move with bulldozers and blow horns , they identify targets and choose paths of least resistance to them .
Does this sound familiar to any of our political leaders right now ?
Discourse is manageable and moldable in increments , what Pierre had been proposing dosnt make sense in the ecconomic world at all unless you simply plan on holding up everything with government funds.
What Carney has taken away from the CPC is ecconomics , theres alot of warning signs that this is what will seal Pierres fate .
Private corporations, unions and investors are all sitting behind closed doors with Carney , all are quiet . There becomes a point where these people will not want to change the course , in my opinion we are already there..
Shovels in ground right … sounds nice
Anyone that is involved in construction and major ecconomic projects understand that by the time shovels are in the ground the boom is done and , the bulk of the money has already been moved and spent.

Step 1: Lock Jivani away in the basement and throw away the keys.
I think what the Conservatives are going to struggle with is coming up with a plan that differentiates themselves enough from Carney’s plan and also seems more beneficial to our economy. Carney is already getting us tons of deals.
I fail to see how Poilievre can present himself as a more effective deal maker than the highly educated and respected economist. It’s not a messaging issue. PP was the Conservative answer to Trudeau who had just as light of a resume. And it seemed to have been a good fit. But then you had Carney come along and present similar stuff as PP’s CPC was offering but without all the nastiness and questionable loyalties (*cough* Maple MAGA *cough*). And led by someone who clearly is experienced and qualified to hold the highest position in our country.
Honestly I think they risk doing more damage this way rather than just laying low and hoping for the Liberals to screw up. Their caucus has already shown every time they wade into the US-Canada relations debate it ends badly. It’s like the abortion issue. Canadian’s are largely not going to like the CPC viewpoint on America.
