R6: I think this is important because there are so many people in this sub struggling with jobs.
Btw: there are no english subtitles atm but think the automatic should work. I think you can translate the official German sub to your preffered language, better than the automated one
German where?
People think they’re too good to work outside an office and don’t even apply to well paying physical jobs
The great offshoring continues – not necessarily to maintain quality but for higher share market returns for the rich.
Meanwhile many young ones don’t have a citizenship and of those who do are apolitical thus willing to dig their own graves.
P.S. – people want SRG defunded so that they can’t make these documentaries. Good luck with the party of Blocher talking about this. Migrants didn’t take the jobs but the greed of the ultra rich did.
But according to all politicians and CEOs, our country lacks qualified people.
He studied „Master in Gesundheitswissenschaften“ is basically something that didn’t even existed some years ago. Hospitals are under financial pressure just like any other company. I wonder what someone with this kind of study can provide to a company, like real day to day things. It simply sounds a bit abstract to me, and maybe those things are first getting cut when numbers need to go up.
To me, this kind of education is the opposite of craftsmen jobs which provide a direct impact.
But maybe I am to uneducated to understand it.
Also 50 applications in half a year, isn’t really a crazy amount of effort, is it?
Why do these so-called recent graduates look so old?
Just my two cents:
1. Work experience is the most important factor when it comes to finding a a job as a graduate, far more important than the academic title (Master or „just“ Bachelor), grades etc. That’s why you should already try to do as much relevant internships and working student jobs alongside your studies as possible.
2. „Augen auf bei der Studienwahl“ (Chose your studies wisely)
It so akward:
Companies: We‘re only looking for experienced people. Entry level gets replaced with AI.
Companies in some years: Why are there no more experienced people the hire ? We need the goverment to fix that now!
WTF is a „Master in Gesundheitswissenschaften“? Study something that the market needs, and you will find work.
As a GenX I started with a Lehre in Polymechanics and got a job immediately. Spent 1-2 years working and continued my FH and others. We also had years of economic depression same as now and job search was challenging. Dont forget that Switzerland de-industrialized a lot and still does. Industry seeks tailored skills and practical hands on knowledge. There is simply not enough capacity to absorb so much academia and to be honest university did also create a ton of nonsense studys that supposed to be a trend which never happened.
There is an inflation in higher education and it’s continuing at a rapid pace. Now even HFs are doing „Professional Bachelor“ and all that. Top degrees? Is it really that when everybody has one? Higher education has basically turned into a lie that is sold to young people, just like the dream of owning their own home.
It is also highly relevant WHAT you graduate in. Yes, it’s hard right now for many majors, but some are way harder than others.
But like….50 applications in 6 months really isn’t that much? Obviously things are tougher than a few years ago, but these people also seem to be very selective when applying.
